My Halloween consists of chilling in my dorm and eating candy corn because I had class today and will have it tomorrow but that didn't prevent me from having some fun and trying out some sugar skull makeup. I've been wanting to do this the probably the past year or so and I never did it. So, here we go. Happy Halloween.

P.S. Thanks for the concern about Hurricane Sandy! Luckily my area went virtually unscathed and my home in Jersey is fine but I'm sending my best thoughts to those less fortunate! I'm also not sure when my next outfit post will be as I'm going home for fall break until Tuesday.

found these Calvin Klein pants in Marshalls and I tried them on half sarcastically. To my surprise, I actually really liked them so I had to get them. They go perfectly with my black sneaker wedges.

I wore this outfit yesterday to go to a talk at FIT. I was waiting for the right opportunity to wear these pants since they deserve to be worn on an above average day. I have to admit I felt really cool wearing these pants on the subway.

Today I'm scrubbing it on my day off in yoga pants and a Columbia tee so I won't be posting another outfit until probably Wednesday. I'm not sure if I'll have power, so until then I'll enjoy my wifi while I have it!

one. I don't have classes today or tomorrow because of Hurricane Sandy. I'm relaxing and enjoying the time off but I'm nervous about the storm. I can only hope it isn't as bad as Hurricane Irene was to my town, but that's definitely being very optimistic.

two. I'm going home for fall break Thursday night until Tuesday so I'm certainly getting a lot of relaxation time.

three. My thoughts go out to anyone already affected my the storm, and I'll be hoping for the best until it all passes.

On Saturday my roommate and I went down to Central Park for about an hour or so for a nice study break. We took a ton of pictures and it was just really nice to escape from campus for a little while and get back to nature. I love the city, but I'm not completely used to the concrete jungle instead of the lines of trees in my suburban town. If anything, I think I appreciate nature a bit more now.

This gold sequin skirt is my pride and glory. I found it on the sale rack at H&M, the only one of its kind and thankfully it fit. I've been buying/wearing a lot of sequined things lately. I think as long as sequins stick to colors like gold, black, bronze, and silver they don't look tacky. When I went to the opera at night I wore this outfit but switched out my sneaker wedges for black pumps. It does make me a little sad that people don't get super dressed up for the theatre anymore. I always love a good excuse to dress up.

Today was a very solid day. I didn't get much done in terms of productivity but sometimes its nice just to appreciate the little things. After ballet in the morning I met one of my fellow Freshman 15ers at the Met. I feel like I spend so much time sitting on the M4 bus lately. I made sure to get off a few blocks early so I could walk along Central Park. The trees are just starting to change color here.

There's something about people watching while sitting on the Met steps eating an over-priced cheddar truffle pretzel. At the Met we got through a ton of the galleries and we saw the new Andy Warhol exhibit. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the city during its run. It had a ton of notable works and one of my favorites, the Red Jackie. My favorite thing about the exhibit had to be the cow-wallpapered room filled with pillow sized silver balloons--there's something so refreshing about a room full of adults acting like 5 year olds, grabbing and punching balloons. Even the security guard couldn't keep a straight face.

As far as this outfit goes, I didn't realize that the top and skirt are paired together in the Lana Del Rey lookbook for H&M. I don't like copying exact outfits from lookbooks but I couldn't help it. They're too perfect for each other. But I tried to make my outfit a bit different by adding a chunky belt to the peplum top and adding purple tights, black thigh highs, and my sneaker wedges. I made my jewelry yesterday in one of Barnard's free jewelry-making classes.

I got this shirt because I thought it was really kitschy-cool and hello, swans? It has a loose fit so I paired it with a  tighter peplum skirt.

Thursdays are such a lazy day for me because I have my classes and then basically just sit in my dorm since I have ballet Friday mornings. I'm okay with this though. Sometimes you just need time to do nothing.

Walking out of your last midterm has got to be one of the greatest feelings every...I mean if you think it went well. But I do feel good about my midterms. And I feel even better that they're over.

This is one of my favorite dresses. It's like an updated Wednesday Addams look. And we all know that I love collars just as much as every Pilgrim loves theirs.

I don't even know what color to call these tights. Seafoam? Mint? Really really really light teal? Either way, the color is really refreshing to make up for the gloominess of this somewhat soggy and midterm ridden day.

I thought a skull print shirt would be appropriate for today since it is October and since it is the advent of my next (and final) midterm. I do like this shirt, but I am growing a bit tired of the sheer trend. I buy things not because they are sheer, but because I like them and they also happen to be sheer. I'm tired of having to wear camis and bandeaus under so many shirts. Give me my opaque tops back! While we're at it, can we make velvet a thing again? Honestly.

After having mixed feelings for a while, I have made my decision: I am pro-harem pants. Harem pants are very risky; they're not always flattering and you really have to watch what shirt and shoes you wear with them. But they're so comfortable! I got these sneaker wedges this weekend after lusting over them for months and I realized that they would go perfectly with the harem pants I bought two years ago. I am satisfied with this decision.

After putting this outfit together I realized that I felt like Jeannie from the old show I Dream of Jeannie. I am also fine with this.

one. I have one midterm down, and one to go. Not too terrible, but I'll feel loads better once it's done with.

two. For Halloween I think I'm probably going to be a china doll and wear my flower crown because I CAN BE YOUR CHINA DOLL IF YOU'D LIKE TO SEE ME FALL.

three. I went home this weekend and it was really relaxing because all I did was sleep, eat, and shop. I bought a bunch of stuff with sequins and lots of black, gold, and oxblood. I spent an indecent amount of money at H&M because how can you not when a giant poster of Lana Del Rey is looming over you, basically telling you to buy more things?

four. Hi Danny.

I could put a little stardust in your eyes.

Stardust -MIKA
sweater: thrifted, roxie b
cami: tj maxx
skirt: cotton on
boots: wanted
Today's outfit was relatively simple to help me survive my first college midterm, which actually wasn't too terrible! I knew the material but my hand was in so much pain after I finished...so much speed writing.

I found this little sweater/cardigan in a thrift shop down the corner from my house. It's so tacky that it works. I love that it's not even trying to look chic or classy--it's just an explosion of neon yarn and sequins and I am completely digging it. To prevent my look from going overboard, I paired this delight of a cardigan with an all black ensemble. When dealing with crazy print, I keep the silhouette simple. I don't want to look like I've been eaten alive by sequins.

I probably won't be posting again until Sunday because I'm going home for the weekend.
