Here is what you will need:
-pearl beads, around 10 mm (I used about 250 beads total)
-sweatshirt, no hood (mine was $2.50 at the thrift store)
-strong thread or floss
-scissors
-a pen to mark your collar's perimeter
Figure out where you're going to start your collar and start beading! Make sure your thread is long so you don't have to constantly rethread your needle. To make sure your collar is defined, make the outline first, and then fill it in with the other beads.
And once you have your outline, start filling it in! You can bead horizontally, but I found it easiest to fill in the collar with vertical lines.
Fill in your collar to your heart's desire, making sure that the beads aren't too close or too far apart. As you continue, you'll get a better feel for it. There were plenty of times when I had to unstitch and restitch and what not. Once you finish, style your sweatshirt however you like and be sure to tell me if you decide to try it out! I think I may also cut the bottom off of my sweatshirt. You can be warm and comfy but still stylish with this DIY, and you can do it all under $5! Have fun beading!
